Politicians Join Famous Faces Out And About In Marbella

celebrities in MarbellaAs a place to visit, there are few that match the southern region of Spain, Andalucía, with its long beaches, hedonistic climate and exotic culture. One of its most high profile locations, Marbella, remains a glamorous hot spot for the rich and famous, as last week’s visit of Tony and Cherie Blair testifies to. The couple first visited the area back in 2012, when they stayed in the luxurious La Zagaleta development. Not people of whom it can be said that they haven’t got around and seen what the world has to offer, the Blairs must have seen something they liked to prompt their return, when they can choose from any destination in the world. Of course, the former first couple of the United Kingdom are not the only ones who recommend the region by their mere presence. From the blue side of the political table, Prime Minister David Cameron was a welcome visitor to the idyllic town of Ronda recently. Ronda lies a little inland along the road from Marbella and its attractions include the oldest bullring in the country, amazing hilltop views, stylish classical buildings, authentic Spanish country cuisine and a rather refined atmosphere. Ronda was also a well-known favourite of Hollywood’s Orson Welles, as well as authors Ernest Hemingway and Rainer Maria Rilke, and it does not seem to have lost any of its allure. Welles even had his ashes scattered here following his death in 1985. Marbella’s elegant Guadalmina suburb is the favourite summer haunt of former Spanish Prime Minister, José María Aznar, who on a particularly clear day could be seen rubbing shoulders there with the Spanish royals. However, nothing could match the interest created by the visit of Michelle Obama and her daughter Sasha to Marbella a couple of years ago. The family of President Barack Obama stayed at the luxurious Villa Padierna Hotel whilst in this part of Spain to holiday but also to attend a charity event hosted by Antonio Banderas and Eva Longoria. Among those who can pick and choose their holidaying spots, it seems this sunniest corner of Europe is as popular as ever.
