We could tell you about the 320 days of sunshine that this beautiful seaside town gets on average each year, making al fresco wining and dining a way of life. Or we could inform you that Marbella was voted the most luxurious holiday destination in the world by Brits in a poll this month. That’s before we even start talking about the multitude of golf courses, the bright lights and sounds of Puerto Banús, the charming Marbella Old Town or the multitude of sandy beaches that offer views over to Morocco and Gibraltar.
There are a number of reasons why Elviria is one of Marbella’s most popular neighbourhoods among international residents. For a start Elviria is a sun worshipper’s paradise, as it boasts what many claim is the best stretch of beach on the town’s coast, offering crystal clear water and palm tree lined, sandy, golden beaches. However, if soaking up the sun is not your cup of tea then those with a penchant for the fairway will be pleased to know the area is a global golfing haven. Elviria boasts two championship golf courses, The Santa María and Santa Clara, with many more within striking distance.
It’s renowned for being a firm favourite among well-heeled, wealthy celebrity types, so it comes as no surprise that Marbella has been voted the top luxury holiday destination of 2013 in a recent poll. The former sleepy little fishing village beat the likes of Ibiza, St Tropez and even Barbados to win the coveted title. During the study members of the public were asked to vote for their ideal holiday location from a list of ten celebrity hotspots. Not surprisingly Marbella, which is known as a playground for the rich and famous, scooped first place with more than a third of the vote.
