A Day at the Marbella Feria

A day at the Marbella Feria.

The summer season is just around the corner, which means it is almost time for the Marbella Feria, the most famous social gathering on the Marbella calendar. The Feria de San Bernabe is a week-long event during which the whole town comes alive as people of all ages gather together to sing, dance, socialise and party. The feria week is a great time to visit Marbella ─ the streets are busy, vibrant and full of colour. As part of the tradition, the Town Hall decorates the centre with bright posters and flags, and the locals dress up in their best feria costumes, which are full of glitter and sequins ─ a spectacular sight to see! In previous years the fair has taken place in Marbella’s fair ground, however following the success of last year’s event, the Parque de la Alameda in central Marbella will once again play host to the majority of this year’s feria events, which will begin on Monday 5th June with an impressive fireworks display at the beach. The Feria de San Bernabe is packed full of entertainment options catering to all ages and tastes. Here you will find everything from children’s entertainment, dance workshops and dance shows to beauty pageants, horse shows, music in every corner and a wide selection of lively stalls offering traditional Spanish snacks and a selection of alcoholic beverages. As evening draws the celebrations move from the centre of town to the fairground near La Cañada shopping centre, where people of all ages sing, dance and party the night away in the famous Casetas (Marquee tents), each of which is individually decorated with its own style and colour theme. The area also plays host to a lively fairground, where amusement rides that are lit up like a Christmas tree are open until the small hours. Claudio CuriaThe Marbella Feria provides hours of entertainment for the whole family and is a great way to sample Spanish culture, mix with the locals and practice your Spanish ─ we highly recommend a visit!
