Marbella football star makes transfer history.
Yuri Ruh dos Santos is a shining new star in the world of football. The seventeen year old from Marbella has made transfer history by being signed by AS Trenčín, an affiliate club of famous Dutch club Ajax. Yuri is the first ever player from Marbella to make a transfer internationally, and at the tender age of seventeen! The young talent was born in Canada to Canadian and Portuguese parents, but is also Spanish as the family moved here when he was just one year old. They have been resident in Marbella ever since and Yuri has always had ambitions to be a professional footballer. He began his career aged six, at La Campana in Nueva Andalucía and has never looked back. When he had just turned fifteen, Yuri was scouted by English sides West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City for trials, but it was decided he was a little too young to leave his family and move to the UK. He was later signed for the Fuengirola team, saving them from demotion and during this time was spotted by Getafe CF, a first division club for whom he played several matches before being offered a regular slot at his home town club Marbella FC. Known locally as ‘Magic Feet’, this young talent is a little nervous of being so far from home but also incredibly excited about the opportunity he has been given. He says he will miss his friends and family in Marbella but this is his dream and he is going to give it 100 per cent. He can’t wait to be able to earn a living doing the one thing that he loves more than anything in the world and he appreciates how fortunate he is to have this amazing chance to do just that. The people of Marbella, Yuri’s old team mates and his friends and family are unbelievably proud of their boy and what he has achieved in his young life so far.
