He is known for his screen persona as a quintessentially charming if bumbling and accident prone posh Englishman, but Hollywood actor Hugh Grant has proved he knows a good spot when he sees one by choosing Marbella for a family holiday. Having achieved fame for his heart-warming performances in Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Love Actually and About a Boy, as well as a more caddish role in Bridget Jones’s Diary, the 54-year-old actor was in Marbella with his Swedish girlfriend Anna Eberstein (37) and their two children. Mr Grant reportedly has a luxurious villa in the upmarket country club of La Zagaleta in Benahavís. Neighbouring properties on the ultra-exclusive urbanisation are said to include several owned by Rod Stewart, Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich and Russian President Vladimir Putin—although the discretion and privacy so prized in the area make it difficult to confirm this. Hugh Grant on Marbella’s Golden Mile What can be said with certainty is that Mr Grant has been enjoying the beaches of Marbella with his young children—aged three and six months—along with his TV producer partner. La Zagaleta, with its two championship golf courses hidden away from the prying eyes of the paparrazi, is the ideal location for a second home for Mr Grant. The keen golfer is said to have enjoyed a round or two on his latest visit, while he also indulged his passion for tennis. He was spotted playing a few sets with Anna on the Golden Mile just a few days after they made an appearance amongst the spectators at the French Open in Paris. While Hugh Grant no doubt appreciates the privacy offered by the gated community of La Zagaleta, he is by no means a recluse. As well as visiting the beaches and tennis courts on the Golden Mile, he was spotted dining in Marbella’s historic Old Town—and not in some hidden corner either. He, Anna and two fellow diners sat on the terrace of popular restaurant Casanis to enjoy a relaxing meal right on the pavement with pedestrians strolling by just inches away.
