Marbella’s Iconic Beach Clubs

While the glorious sandy beaches to be found along its 27 kilometres of coastline have long been central to Marbella’s attraction, the numerous chiringuitos or beach bars found along them have become essential to the holiday experience too. Originally these clubs were little more than wooden shacks with cane roofs offering a shady spot for a cooling drink, but many have transformed themselves into laid back luxury chill-out zones offering fine food, or into lively party spots featuring international DJs. Whatever your desire, there is a chiringuito to choose from that will meet your needs—here we take a look at some of the best beach bars in Marbella, each offering something a little different… Pedro’s Beach This chiringuito is located in Puerto Banús and is popular with locals looking to spend long days relaxing on sun-loungers with chill out music in the background. A typically Andalusian menu featuring traditional dishes such as Gambas Pil Pil (prawns in an olive oil, garlic and chilli sauce), sardines grilled over a wood fire (espeto de sardinas) and calamares (deep fried squid) provide the typical Costa Del Sol beach bar experience. Ocean Club Also set in Puerto Banús, Ocean Club is one of the most famous beach clubs in Spain for luxury and indulgence—and with good reason too. Within its 9,000m2 area you’ll find a large saltwater swimming pool surrounded by extra-large sun beds overlooking the pool and sea. Its restaurant serves an array of delicious dishes, including sushi, while a selection of spa treatments is available to pamper you. Nikki Beach Since opening in 2003 Nikki Beach has earned a reputation as the ultimate beach party spot with what it likes to call a ‘sexy vibe’. Found at Elviria’s five-star Don Carlos Resort, it too features a swimming pool with VIP beds on a raised deck as well as a large open air restaurant. There is also a Lifestyle Boutique and VIP terrace offering spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea. Each summer it hosts a series of must-attend events that are extremely popular amongst a chic young crowd. Vincci Estrella Del Mar A little further along one of the best beaches in Marbella is the Vincci Estrella Del Mar, a resort beach club that offers a luxurious lifestyle setting with hammocks and Balinese Beds, first-class service, fine dining and spa treatments. In other words, it is the perfect place to relax. Trocadero Emphasis is placed on food in elegant surroundings at the famous Trocadero Group of beach restaurants. Trocadero Arena is located at Río Real and Trocadero Playa is set on the glamorous Golden Mile but both offer excellent dining in imaginatively decorated premises, complete with sun loungers and waiter service. All the above beach clubs provide a wide variety of settings and ambiences in which to spend a day on the beach, but it is by no means an exhaustive list.
