Marbella’s Puerto Banús Stays a Leader in Luxury

Marbella´s Puerto Banus stays a leader in luxury.

Puerto Banús is something of a legend in these parts and the majority of visitors to the Costa del Sol make sure they visit the marina, its clubs and fantastic shops at least once during a holiday here. It’s one of the leading places in the world to be seen in, which also makes it excellent for celebrity spotting. So, in many ways, it is unsurprising that the property in Puerto Banús is also something of a ‘celebrity’ and occupies a leading place in a table of Spain’s most exclusive residential streets. Tecnitasa, a property appraisal company, undertook the survey of Spain’s autonomous regions to establish the least and most expensive streets to live in based on a €/m2 valuation. Unsurprisingly, the country’s most expensive address is in Madrid, where the stunning Calle Serrano commands around 10,246€ per square metre. It is closely followed by Barcelona’s Paseo de Gracia in the heart of its shopping district, where you can expect to pay 8,957€ per m2. Marbella’s Puerto Banús registers 5,559€ per square metre according to the published table. San Sebastian completes the ‘Big Four’, with the runners up including streets in Santander, Oviedo and Palma de Mallorca. If you are surprised that Puerto Banús has more expensive property as valued by the square metre, than for instance, La Zagaleta, this is because valuations of apartments tend to be higher than those for villas as they are more densely concentrated—and, as we know, Puerto Banús property primarily consists of apartments and penthouses, whereas other parts of Marbella have more villas. It is a testament to the lasting appeal of Puerto Banús that its property ranks so highly and has maintained its value through the ups and downs of the recession. Quality always shines through and because this exclusive area has such exceptional residential developments coupled with the amazing amenities on the doorstep, its popularity has never wavered.
