Oscar Jefferson, a British boy from Cádiz was the new star on the local version of MasterChef Junior. At only eight years old the young boy melted everyone’s heart and gained him many fans, especially on social media, where his popularity soared after his failed attempt at the semi-finals. His cheerful and innocent personality garnered Oscar popularity all over Spain and in the UK over the past weeks. The young chef was ultimately disqualified after a failed attempt at recreating his grandfather’s classic fish and chips. However, the tears that spontaneously swelled up in his eyes won hearts across the country, giving his elimination a silver lining as he shot to instant stardom. The task had consisted of recreating a signature dish of the contestant’s grandfathers, who for the occasion were invited to the show. Oscar’s grandfather, Mike, flew over to Spain to surprise the boy at the show and cook his classic dish. Although everything went perfectly well for the experienced man, Oscar struggled as the pressure got to him, producing a very nervous boy who thought he had disappointed his family and especially his grandfather. Of course, that was far from the truth, and a very sad night for the young expat turned into an incredible opportunity, as his disqualification led him to be invited for interviews by other TV shows and newspapers all over Spain and the UK. The young Brit has since then been making regular appearances on TV, and had the chance to vindicate himself by cooking dinner for the British ambassador to Spain!
