The Senior Masters Cup in Marbella.
During the weekend of 22nd-24th September the Senior Masters Cup made a spectacular return to the Puente Romano tennis Club with the stellar names of former champions John McEnroe, Yannick Noah and Mats Wilander headlining the ranks of other stars playing in the tournament, which is now once again set to become a favourite event in Marbella’s social calendar. Albert Costa, the tournament director said, “To have the presence of these three legends of world tennis is a privilege for us and a major contribution to The Senior Masters Cup being one of the most important social and sporting events in Marbella.” It seems that the three tennis champs were delighted to have received an invitation to play, and for all of them it was a return visit to Marbella and the delightful ambience of the Puente Romano, with its spacious grounds and elegant surroundings. John McEnroe, now a respected commentator on his sport, told the press: “I’m excited to again have the opportunity to play in Marbella. I have been to the Puente Romano many times and each of those visits has been a mixture of great tennis, good weather, great food and lots of atmosphere, so I thought, it is surely worth going back to play in Marbella.” French tennis star Yannick Noah, was also excited to be back in Marbella and on the familiar tennis courts at the Puente Romano, where he has played before. “I love being able to play and meet my friends on the circuit. Marbella has always known how to treat us, so it took me only one minute to say yes,” said the man who was French Open champion in 1983. Mats Wilander, the Swedish winner of seven Grand Slams, agreed with his fellow players McEnroe and Noah: “I’m looking forward to returning to Marbella. I know the city and its people, and I love them, so I’m sure we’re going to have a great time.” The elegant surroundings of the Puente Romano are a big draw for both hotel guests and longer-term residents. Imagine living in one of the luxury apartments or townhouses within the grounds of this world-class hotel. The properties within the Andalusian and Persian Garden developments of the Puente Romano offer a perfect combination of beachside life and close proximity to all the amenities of Marbella, along with the exclusive lifestyle associated with Marbella’s famous Golden Mile—a byword internationally for everything one associates with the jet set life.
