Antonio Banderas Collection launches in Marbella

Antonio Banderas Collection launches in Marbella.

Málaga born Antonio Banderas has just opened his first collection working as a designer in collaboration with menswear brand Selected and offering garments for Autumn/Winter 2016—and has chosen Marbella as the ideal place to do it. Banderas has certainly been keeping himself busy recently, after his enrolment in a fashion design course at the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London last year he has already managed to bag himself a deal with popular men’s brand Selected! Ever since, he has been working closely with the company’s expert team of designers to create a collection that represents himself, where he comes from and how he sees fashion. Needless to say, the designs draw a lot of inspiration from the Mediterranean and its natural, marine colour palette. The famous actor/director is looking to increase his participation in the design process, where he is not the exclusive designer of the collection and had a large team to help him – but for his first go, and only a year into his studies, we think he’s done a pretty good job! Selected Brand Manager Marcos Gálvez has highlighted the positive reaction to the nationwide campaign aimed at expanding the label’s reach. Apart from his fashion design ventures, Antonio Banderas has also been continuing his philanthropic activities, working alongside Starlite Festival founder, Sandra García-Sanjuán, hosting the Starlite Gala in Marbella for the seventh time in a row. In fact, this glamorous event is now very much associated with him. In between all of this he also managed to feature in three new films due to premiere in 2017. Banderas will star in a crime/drama series later this year and a biographical movie about fellow Málaga born artistic legend, Pablo Picasso, which focuses on one of his most famous works, the controversial ‘Guernica’. It is refreshing to see a man of Antonio Banderas’s fame truly putting in work and not simply offering his celebrity name without participation. It’s also inspiring to see him challenging himself and taking on different projects outside of the film industry, and in so doing setting a fantastic example for young Andalusians who look up to the star. You can view the new Banderas clothing line online, at selected El Corte Inglés department stores such as Puerto Banús, and in dedicated Selected Homme boutiques.
