Classic Sundays in Marbella

Classis Sundays in Marbella.

Marbella offers an enjoyable day out regardless of what day of the week you decide to visit. However, there is something particularly special about Marbella on a Sunday ─ the streets, cafes, bars and restaurants are vibrant and fun as friends and family gather to enjoy their day off together. We have put together a small list of some of best ways to spend a Sunday in Marbella.

Sunday lunch

There is nothing quite like enjoying a lazy Sunday lunch, be it a traditional roast or fresh seafood on the beach; either way, Marbella promises a memorable Sunday lunch experience. Those who enjoy stunning views while listening to the sound of jazz and soul will like Alevante restaurant, which overlooks the marina, or the Boardwalk, which is located on the Paseo Marítimo overlooking the beach. Both offer a traditional Sunday lunch and are popular with expats and tourists. If you prefer fresh seafood on the beach, Restaurante Puerto Playa, situated near the fishing port, and also Chiringuito Veradero are popular with the locals and those who like to enjoy an afternoon of flamenco and the sound of classic guitar.

The Beach

Marbella has many different sections of beach that vary in size, atmosphere and popularity. To the west of Marbella centre you will find the trendy Bounty Beach, which is a favourite of Marbella’s younger residents. It is home to a selection of trendy chiringuitos offering comfortable sunbeds, a lively atmosphere and live music from resident vocalists and DJs. Marbella’s adult only hotel Amaré offers a fun day out with a touch of glamour in the centre of Marbella. Relax by the stylish pool or at the elegant beach club while enjoying the sound of soft chill out music. The venue hosts a special Sunday BBQ every week from 14.00hrs to add to the holiday ambience. Those looking for a peaceful beach day can take advantage of The Golden Mile, where the sand is smooth, the water is clear, the beaches are less crowded and the vistas are simply breathtaking. Here Sunday afternoons are spent under a palm tree with a book, or relaxing in the sun while gazing out over the Mediterranean.

Marbella’s Puerto Deportivo

Marbella’s charismatic port is one of the best places to enjoy your Sunday, come day or evening. The bars are lively and full of colour, life and entertainment. Each Sunday the port features a small artisan market in the late afternoon where you can find unique items such as handmade jewellery, items of clothing, crafts and organic condiments such as pickles and honey. The frontline bars that overlook the marina offer live music and a fun ambience that will take you from afternoon into the small hours. Particular favourites include Lemmon and Le Sud, while around the corner you will find Punto Faro, Nelly Mc’s Irish Bar and Punto Zero, all of which are popular Sunday spots with the locals and tourists of all ages.
