Why buy on the New Golden Mile?.
The Golden Mile of Marbella is famous the world over for its opulent mansions and glamorous hotspots. The New Golden Mile however has a more understated appeal, and is no less attractive for it. This area can be roughly divided into two zones – beachside and hillside – and runs from Guadalmina in the east to the boundary of Estepona. As this is an area that was developed after Marbella, it has been carried out with care so it is less built-up than its more established cousin. There are no high-rise buildings and attention has been taken to not build up to the shore-line so there is a more spacious feel to this part of the coast.
Beachside New Golden Mile contains some prestigious developments offering luxurious amenities and facilities, among them Cabo Bermejo, Torre Bermeja and Hacienda del Sol. This stretch of the coast also features some beautiful upmarket hotels including the five star Kempinski Hotel, which also has property available to private owners within the grounds. In order to cater for residents and visitors alike, there have sprung up a dizzying array of shops, bars and restaurants on the hillside of the dividing N340 coastal road. You can find most cuisine represented here from Indian, Cuban and Lebanese and often within a 500-metre distance.
Located here are established urbanisations such as Benavista, Bel-Air and Benamara and the village of Cancelada, which now sits comfortably with the more recent arrivals. The jewel in the crown of the New Golden Mile is unarguably the Villa Padierna Hotel, which was planted firmly in the public consciousness with the much-publicised stay in 2010 of Michelle Obama. Overlooking the wonderful golf courses of the hotel is the luxury Los Flamingos Golf Resort. This is a sought-after development to rival any of Marbella’s traditional Golden Mile.
